Personal Branding Chapter 2

When first looking at Chapter 2, I must admit I had no clue what was really meant by “creating a personal brand.” As I read the chapter, I realized a personal brand is really about what a person represents, what they value, and who they want to be. As a freshman in college and only in my second semester, I don’t believe I have a clue how to answer these questions as I am sure my answers will change with my experiences. If I had to answer today, I would say that I represent my family, which now includes ONU, my team and the sport of lacrosse. If I focus inward, I think of hard work, because no matter how bad situations are for me, I work my butt off to figure it out. In terms of who I want to be, I want to be the guy that people really like and rely on to get stuff done. When I walk into a room, I want to be the guy that gets respect, not out of fear but out of appreciation for my effort. With that in mind, I think I most value respect, along with loyalty, honesty, and kindness. Overall

Second Week of Second Semester

I’m Matt Wilder and I am back with my second blog as a lacrosse student-athlete. Last week, I confessed I didn’t want these to turn into therapy sessions. Since my second week wasn't much better, let me just lie down on the couch and tell you all about it. First, some of the positives. I got a 94% on my first blog and didn't have to practice three times in one day. With that out of the way, we can get to the other stuff. Monday I was almost late to my hardest class this semester, so the week was off to a bad start. Later that night after practice, my legs felt sore, and I didn’t know why. Me being the genius I am, I did nothing about the pain and instead talked to my girlfriend on the phone until midnight. Tuesday is my most relaxed day when it comes to classes, but our afternoon practice was tough. We compete the most on Tuesdays and at the start of practice, I could barely walk. The trainer said I had shin splints, probably because we were running on hard frozen turf, so I

First Week of Second Semester

My name is Matt Wilder. I am a student and a lacrosse player at Ohio Northern University. This is a blog about my experience as a student-athlete. I thought my first semester was tough but with just one week in and coming into season, I think I might have been wrong. Because of our practice schedule, I had to be back at school the weekend before MLK day. That was rough because I was really enjoying the break. I was excited to get on the field and get going, but I knew we had three practices that first day, all separated by just a few hours. Trust me, multiple practices in a single day take a toll on your body. With school starting the next day, I was already worn out. Plus, I wasn’t prepared to jump right back into school and didn’t even know the times of my classes. With that triple practice complete I thought that the hardest part of the week was done. Sadly, it would get harder. I was late for my first class and because I was still on my break sleep schedule, I spent the rest of th
