Marketing With TikTok

In this chapter we learn how to market with TikTok. In just the past couple of years, TikTok has become

one of the most used social media platforms ever. As of January 2022, there are at least 1 billion active

monthly users. This has put TikTok’s user base over some of the other social media platforms like

Twitter, Pinterest, and Snapchat. At 69%, the primary age group of users for TikTok are between the

ages of 13 and 24. Our chapter also tells us that 60% of the users are women. This does not surprise me

because I am on TikTok throughout the day. That might be a problem by itself, but I can say that every

time I open the app, the first 20 TikTok’s are of girls dancing. Male users make up only 40%, which is a

lot higher than I initially thought but after paying more attention, it makes sense as I have started to see

a lot more male TikTok users, especially ones that are trying to market their company or product. When

it comes to promoting a business on TikTok, there are many ways to do so. For example, you can link

your website to your account which makes it easier for people to find more detail about your company.

You can also make interesting videos that draw attention. They can be funny, relatable, or even a call to

action. You can also duet videos as well. For example, if someone is complaining about a problem you

could duet the video addressing the issue and in turn you would be also marketing your product. The

complaining person could even become a promoter for you. The concept of promoting brings me to my

last point about ads. I think ads are the best way to get a company’s name or product promoted. One

approach is to get popular creators to talk about your product, so their millions of followers will see it

and check the product out. I believe TikTok is becoming one of the most popular apps for consumers

and will continue to grow in popularity over the following years.
